Go to as many beginers sessions as you can before the coaches say your ready to move up to the intermediates.
Spend the rest of the season in the intermediate group.
When you think you're ready and the coaches agree maybe try a few Monday night race training sessions.
Then try out the track league.
Manchester has a much more strict system of blue and pink slips, I think it's blue slip first then pink slip. It's explained on their website though.
