@Pifko, doesn't Gary mind the movement? My concern is that by having to remove the web to get the front wheel back in I have destroyed Cuban Pete's food source, so his long term outlook is not so good.
I did think I could leave the bike out in the rain, and the rain might wash the spider out. But the key learning from Itsy Bitsy Spider seems to be that this is a waste of time, because as soon as the sun comes out he'll be back up that steerer tube faster than you can say Jack Robinson.
