The minds of ShuffleCOMM/BearTree Enterprises have been working hard to come up with a tournament to rival the likes of the Open and the Invitational as London’s premier event.
So with that in mind we bring you the inaugural London Beer Cage Open.
This will take place at London’s party court (Downham) on Saturday 21/01/2012.
The rules will be the LHBPA ruleset with a few minor changes:
A minimum of one bottle cage must be fitted to the bike (no extra devices for fastening a can into the cage will be permitted i.e. velcro straps, cable ties, etc.).
This bottle cage must contain an open beer at all times during games (players without a beer in their cage are out of play until they have a new beer in their cage).
If you spill your beer, chug what’s left (refusal to do so will result in a 2 min penalty) and grab another (Deliberate beer interference will be permitted)
Games will last the length of time required to pour six perfect pints of Guinness (12 minutes).
There will be unlimited goals.
Shuffles are A-Okay and actively encouraged.
No draws will be permitted. If time ends and there is a draw, a game of “shuffle bike curling” is played to decide the winner. See curling rules, but replace brooms with mallets, stones with franklins, sweepers with shuffles, and ice with tarmac.
Anyone playing with a cider/beer with an ABV of 8% or higher in their bottle cage does not have to tap out after a dab. However, the rules applying to spillage and chugging still apply to these players.
