  • ^They have the grumpiest mechanic I have ever met, FACT

+1 Grumpy as hell. Worth persisting with him though, its just the way he expresses himself and I think it takes time for him feel comfortable with people. I guess thats a problem in a customer facing job! Mad into downhill...knows his stuff.

And any man who fits a headset or cuts a steerer for me gratis is fine by me.

  • Yep, that or the cog is too thin to get enough purchase between the lockring and cog to stop it from getting unscrewed.

    After they've met you...

Love the fact that you've diagnosed and solved a problem even though the OP hadn't explained the symptoms in any way beyond saying he had lockring "trouble" in the past!

  • Awesome thread.

  • To required the need to buy a lockring tools in order to tighten it up every now and then definitely sound like a poor interface between the lockring and cog.

  • Inferrence leads to ignominy as an old lawyer said to me once.

  • maybe the lack of lockring tool, didnt allow for proper instalation the first time round, and thus has never been installed properly which would be 'trouble' despite a fully functioning cog and lockring

  • OYB have lockring tools fact.

  • All the talk of massive tools in this thread is ripe for the taking..

    but i will walk away....

  • Its a fucking ripper of a thread though, admit it.

  • Finest in a long time.. i am going to rate it 5 *
as i went to a bike shop once and they were like all "yeah" and i was like "Whatever!".. OMFG its like they didn't even want customers and then they just tried to give me a coffee! proper sucked, they didn't even have any bikes in the shop.. fucking LMAO! they didn't even know what a dropout was..MEGA LOLS

Fucking Costa.. trying to get in on the fixie scene! WAC!

  • i went to my LBS today and i was like
'yo do you have a an innertube'
and they were like 'yes, yes we do'
and i was all 'ahhh awesome man! i'll take two'
and they were like 'that'll be £10 please'
and then i gave them a ten pound note, and then the man gave me a reciept and then i put the reciept in my pocket
and then i said 'thank you'
and then i walked out of the shop and came home

  • ^^His phone number's on the back of that receipt you know.

  • I rang my LBS yesterday and asked "Could you order in a Hope freehub so I could convert my wheel from Campag to Shimano?".
The guy on the phone said "Yes, yes we can. But Hope are shut now cos it's after 5, I'll ring them tomorrow then give you a ring.

So I gave them my number. They didn't call :(

  • I might start a thread about this terrible experience, even if they are generally really good.

  • I'm going to hit f5 on General until you do.

  • Serves me right badmouthing tooley street. just got floored by some dickhead minicab passenger that swung the door open into the cycle lane outside London Bridge tube.

Edit: fella behind the till at Evans Cycles London Bridge - you're a star.

Edit 2: far more of a star than the bimbo at OYB

  • to put this down to karma may be harsh.
but i do love this song
Culture Club - Karma Chameleon - YouTube

  • Awesome thread.

I think that depends on how well it holds a lockring.

  • fucking LMAO! they didn't even know what a dropout was..MEGA LOLS

Fucking Costa.. trying to get in on the fixie scene! WAC!

All they have to know about is trackends, not dropouts, eh?

  • Edit: fella behind the till at Evans Cycles London Bridge - you're a star.

They're a good lot in there, always really helpful.
