Alright then I think its the cane creek I wanted something that didn't bulge out like chris king et al I think they can end up looking like a frogs throat sac espec on 1 inch head tubes

The Forty can be a bit bulge-y too though, just in a different way.

Maybe if the frame was lugged it wouldn't be so noticeable.

It's probably par for the course with decent non-integrated headsets unfortunately, they're always trying to make the bearings bigger in order to handle the load better.
