  • how does the frame weight compare to the 531c champion mondial special aa frames ?

  • Seriously no idea.. Thing is, oversize tubes = stiffer (and thinner wall thickness I believe), stainless steel = lighter then chrome.. So logic says it's lighter.. DC will know.. Have a googled a catalog but that doesn't say anything on weight..

  • No, DC has no clue.
I had some oversized 531 frames (I can't remember, at least 1, maybe more) and all I can remember is that these are terribly heavy. But in NL, noboby should give a damn, because the country is as flat as a pancake and nobody should worry about a couple of ounces more.
Stiffer? I never noticed. Maybe I learned to handle sloppy frames.

  • Anyone any idea roughly how much the 120th Anniversary frames will be and how many Gazelle are making?

  • ^120 pieces.. Duh.. ;) A 58mc weighs 1650 grams and they're ratailing at 2495 euro's..

I thought I heard they're all sold out, but best try to contact Gazelle if you got the money's..

  • How much?! ^ Good grief!

  • For that price I'd expect to be able to order the frame without those piss poor graphics!

  • ^ this

  • you could just re- spray it in frisol colours or tvm

  • A respray would be kind of silly.. Then you'd rather buy an other frame.

  • Why silly? It wouldn't change the intrinsic values of the frame, material/welding/etc.

Just don't put Colnago decals on it

  • For that price I'd expect to be able to order the frame without those piss poor graphics!

The Gazelle graphics have been horrible since 1995.. Such a shame

  • heh! why don't all you art student guys on here come up with a more tasteful alternative and go bother (thread subscribers and) Gazelle headquarters with it!? ;)

  • Ha! This ^ perhaps some of the naysayers would like to come up with a better alternative?

Excellent idea! I have been contemplating doing so indeed ;) but have been unable to find the spare time so far...

  • i love their 80's type face
there is a building just down the rroad from me called gazelle house and the font is almost identical

i have thought about " removing " the lettering from the building for health and safety reasons ... well they could fall and hurt someone

  • Shame about the lettering but i really like the fake lugs and the matt/gloss finish.

  • The Gazelle graphics have been horrible since 1987/1988 or so.. Such a shame

By the way, since Gazelle en Derby Cyclewerke are bought by Pon, the chance is very big that the Gazelle company will end/die soon and Gazelle will be not more that a name on a decal. Same as most other bikes.

Hmm, i quite like the Gazelle typo from beginning of the '90s, fits perfect in its time ;)
And gazelle typo doesn't get any better than the typo on the Skala team bikes (that was '85/'86 right?) Just the name "Gazelle" and no BS.. Also the white/blue combination is superb!

Ha, first thing I thought upon seeing that^ too.

  • Anyone ever seen this?
I doubt if this has anything to do with Gazelle..

seen over at Spoke sniffers Flickr

  • there is one of those for sale somwhere right now ^
it may well be that very bike
can't for the life of me remember where though

    ebay / marketplaats ?

  • It was on sale recently on Troc Velo, France.

There's a french bike brand "La Gazelle", nothing in common with the dutch company.

That "Spoke Sniffer" guy is a strange person.
I bet that red GAzelle is not his bike.
He picks photo's from the web and puts them on his own Flickr account.
He also hijacked one of my bikes

We'll see Dutch Cheese, unless you know something I don't, my understanding is that Pon wants to make Gazelle a more international brand. The strong Dutch connection /manufacture of the brand Gazelle in Holland is a big part of Gazelles brand. I would be very surprised if Pon were to change these dynamics any time soon.

    Thanks,
