As far as I know it was for himself.
He has definitely ridden it - I read an interview a few months ago and the bike was in the background of the accompanying pictures.

If anyone buys it, it would be as a souvenir. I've seen him ride it and he has such an odd position on this bike that I didn't think it could be ridden comfortably by anyone else.

No, Isn't Old Faithful the track bike with the funny bars? That's probably even more unrideable by anyone else.
I think it's fair to say that Mr Obree is one of a kind.

Old Faithful is his hour record bike.. the famous washing machine-bearing skinny BB thing that's in a museum in Glasgow I think.
