I have to admit that I've never liked Brick Lane as much. I know what you mean--it may well be better food, but I have a soft spot for the kind of cooking in Drummond Street.
I presume people have tried the vegan cupcake place on Coldharbour Lane in Brixton? Their 'Ferrero Rocher' one is amazing... you wouldnt want to make too much of a habit of them though. Rich, sugary, teeth rotting madness. But so good...!!!
Ms Cupcake was at the recent Vegan Festival, and as she'd nearly sold out I talked to her for a moment. Her stock went really quickly. It's a very useful antidote to people claiming you can't make vegan sweets. :)
I got Veganpeasant chocolate cake last Sunday (from Chatsworth Road Market) and it was absolutely delicious, as were the brownies. They lasted all of two days despite vows to myself that I'd be more disciplined. Adrian also gave me a slice of pumpkin cheesecake, which was wonderful. Gorgeous food. The world just needs to learn to bake vegan!
