• Yes, these Raleighs are the East of Scotland cycling association track bikes:
I am the ESCA track secretary and am looking at the viability of modernising the bikes we to give youngsters that are coming to the track, these kids don't seem to appreciate the history in the bikes.

They want one that looks like the ones the BC riders use. When Chris was using one of these bikes, we told him if it was good enough for Gordon Singleton to win the world championships , it was good enough for him !

Here is a bit of the history :

*"In August 1980 Brian Annable negotiated an agreement with Gerald O Donovan of Raleigh Cycles to supply 11 track bikes to the Council for a special price of £3300. The Council also agreed to fund the provision of track lighting by ESCA, and to donate £700 for ESCA to recondition the Carltons that were supplied when the track opened in 1970.
BA reached an agreement between ESCA and CEC that ESCA would become responsible for ownership, deployment, maintenance, and safety in use of the track machines, and CEC would fund the purchase of components needing replacement." *
