Chap at work tried to update his HTC somethingorother to an ICS/MIUI rom and had exactly the same issue. He was stuck in a boot loop and had to flash the previous MIUI rom and then the ICS based version to get it working.
Might be worth trying if anyone is intent on trying the most recent ICS rom and suffers the same fate.
