If you get stuck, and there is no one locally or your LBS won't do it, I have a couple of these you can have a loan of, no point buying one as they are about £40 for a Park one.
This offer only stands if you are using it on alloy cranks !
I am in Edinburgh, but very good at posting things.

That would be very amazing of you!
I tracked down a complete set of TA cranks for our tandem, but the pedal thread is (just) too small to accept 'normal' pedals. My LBS was able to cut the left-hand threads as he had a tapered tap (as per the Park tool), but he didn't have a right-hand one.
I've looked online and you're right - Park do them - but £40 is a bit pricey, I could get a set cheaper from the States, but I want get my tandem up and running again, as soon as poss.
If you're happy to lend me the right-handed one, I'll send you a PM with my address etc. Obviously happy to send it back enclosing some 'beer money'!

Found the tap, doing the packaging to post it off tomorrow, do you need the tap handle to go with it ?

Hi, sorry to dredge this thread up, but Im after someone who can/haz tools to tap my french threaded alloy cranks to 9/16... my LBS are talking some silly figures and i cant afford to buy the tap stuff/would be scared to ruin the cranks..
alternatively, anyone know a LBS in london/brighton who will do it on the cheap?

true fax but £20 for both is similar to shop prices, whereas I was thinking PINTS for anyone who could help out quicker/cheaper.. but perhaps my only option.

I would happily do it but I am in Reading, I just bought a pair!

Cheesecake_intl you have PM!
Does anyone have or know someone who does a right-handed pedal tap - 9/16" x 20tpi - preferbaly tapered, as my crank arms need re cutting to accept 'normal' pedals.
Cheers,
Simon
