Finally swapped the bars and levers on my Bob Jackson last night but taped them in such a hurry to leave the house that it looks a right mess - hence no photos yet.
Anyway, I've switched from 44cm Noodles with Tektro levers to 42cm Soma Hwy One with SRAM S500 levers. I used Upstart's (IIRC) fix for the uncabled lever, with a biro spring and a short length of cable with a ferrule crimped on. The ferrule protrudes from under the hood a bit so I might take another look at that fix at some point. Or just paint it black.
Effective reach to the hoods has come down by about 2cm (which is what I wanted) and the compact curve is much nicer on my hands. Success. Only thing I don't like is the socking great hole in the underside of the S500 hoods where the shift gubbins has been left out.
