mmm hadn't thought of that. I like to mix my route up a little bit in the mornings anyway, so will probably take a different one just to keep them on their toes

S'up gang.
Undercover fuzz are hanging around the lights / general area at Piccadilly Circus. Got chased (on foot) + stopped by one fine member of our Metropolitain police forces after RLJing fairly hard the wrong way round the roundabout. Seemed like a great idea at the time. Turns out Plod was pretty friendly, no ticket and I complemented him on his concealed firearm. I think he liked that.
In any case, he says there's a team there due to a recent spate of robberies, so I assume they'll be hanging around for a while. Time to practise your trackstands.
Big love.

Bottom of the Mall just before Buckingham Palace. The pelican crossing there takes too long and it's an obligatory RLJ especially having picked up a nice bit of speed down the Mall. Next thing I know a couple of cunts on bikes giving chase blowing their whistles. I have no idea where they came from, but in that split second it takes to decide stop or go, I elected to go, three RLJs later and it really is too late to stop but the fuckers are no where to be seen, down a quick one way street cut through a ped zone and I shook them off. A close one though as I can really do without a fine right now. Fuckers.
So be careful out thereNice one lad... Loves a getaway story

has anyone else seen the khunt of a PCSO who pops up every now and then on old street just by the spoons pub? he marches up and down the white line staring at everyone. Just for a laugh I let my front wheel go about 6 inches over it and he said something along the lines of "sorry would you like me to repaint the white line for you" - at which point a courier blasted through the red and over the junction.
He shouted something very strange at him like "come back here you chief" which clearly wasnt going to be an effective strategy.
If this wasnt my regular haunt I would make a point of going back and toying with him.

Yeah I've had him too. Someone went through a red and he shouted 'Cheif' and then laughed and said 'the one that got away'. Weird job, he must feel a bit dis-empowered knowing people can bomb it past him and he can't stop them...

CityPo this am on corner of fleet street and fetter lane.
good job they were busy writing a fine when i passed them (green for the pedestrians, but none about)
-
• #886
possibly not the best idea to ride through when they are by the junction
often they have people further on from the junction to actually stop people who have run the lights
-
• #887
Good on them.
-
• #888
didnt spot them until i was through... stupid blindfold...
-
• #889
fuuuuu
if you can't spot plod in full dayglo, then maybe you are a danger to yourself and other road users
-
• #890
on left hand pavement behind a parked van next to the lights. no visibility coming down fetter lane saw them out the corner of my eye going through.
maybe you should take your finger off your keyboard and park it back up your nose.

queen street place and upper thames street - police, on bicycles, on motorcycles, in lorries - they had a stand up and I think that they were educating cyclists about how much lorry drivers can see. I think they were also catching RLJ'ers coming across the bridge. I didn't stop as I was late for work. It is a good thing for cyclists to realise, however, it would also be good if they took lorry drivers out on bikes.
[as I didn't stop, I don't really know what they were doing, but that's very much what it looked like, maybe someone can confirm]

Fucking po-po on the corner of Barnsbury Road and Tolpuddle Street, trying to catch people going over the zebra crossing and mark their bikes for Bike Register.

(From DJ)
just had a call from Andrew Collett at Hammersmith police station. The police had previously not considered the danger of cars filling the ASL or that it would leave cyclists in the cycle lane in the most vulnerable position on the road (on the inside of vehicles that are turning left). After my explanation of risk the police have reconsidered their policing of the Hammersmith gyratory, and will be enforcing the law for all road users who jump the red light. This means that they will continue to fine cyclists who RLJ, but cars that enter the ASL after the lights have turned red will be considered to have run the red light which entails 6 points on their licence.
Today was the first day they have started to have officers monitoring the junction for both types of infringement.
It really is worth contacting the police regarding the enforcement of ASL's. I am very happy to see the law being equally enforced for both motorists and cyclists.

It would be easy to be cynical and say 'about bloody time, of course' but that's positive news.
Are you going to be using the same route tomorrow ?
