My bike developed a strange clicking sound when putting pressure on the driveside pedal, checked the pedals, they're fine, then having turned the bike upside down and spinning the pedals (with the chain off) I can see a side to side wiggle of the chainring when looking from above. Having removed the chainring and using an allen key to check the clearance of the spider I can see that one of the spider arms comes closer to the frame than the others. So im guessing this is that cause of the problem as the bb is running smoothly but how would one arm become bent as this has only developed in the last week or so? anything I can do to remedy this apart from a new crankset?
