• Have PMed you re: light, video coming!

  • Here's a video I made on bump-proofing the Cree light. Some people reported that the light started to become intermittant when hitting bumps due to the battery case jiggling inside the torch.

I've showed a 2 second trick that you can use to stabilize the batteries using a standard business card "shim".

  • Light and straps received.
    Thank you!

For anyone wondering about the water proof capabilities, the torches have a groove in the thread at both ends of the centre tube where one can fit an O ring. Add some silicone grease (or any grease if you don't mind replacing the O rings regularly) and you'll have an effective seal.

    Cheers

  • got one of these for my dad, really bright and he hasn't had any problems. really good value i'd say

  • So after a couple of rides, mine turns itself off intermittently.

    Anyone else had this problem?

yes..same here. stopped using it to be honest.

  • Same here, will try that trick tho'...

  • Ah, looks like a floor then. Mine hasn't been in the wet.

  • Have you tried wrapping some card round the battery holder? Or putting a section of inner tube round the battery holder? the spring connectors in these lights are a bit weedy and if the battery holder is allowed to rattle about, the connectors seem to disconenct, if you see what I mean. A bit of a bodge, but it might help.

Edit: oops, I've now read above and see that this has already been covered. Ignore me!

  • Did the business card trick on mine and that seems to work fine now, the one I gave my girlfriend has completely fallen apart after only a weeks use... She didn't trust the intermittentness, so didn't use it 'til the clocks went back (or was it forward?)... Bit shoddy really... She's gone back to her Knog...

    Caveat emptor...

  • These are very cheap lights for what they are (the LED inside them is pretty high end) but obviously a they're from the far east they won't all be perfect!

I will happily offer you a refund/replacement if the light develops a fault in the initial month of use though so if you're not happy just PM me to send back/meet up. I don't want anyone to feel ripped off, and I quite like these lights myself as theyre cheap and cheerful, dispite the need for some of them to be glued at the button or unjiggled.

  • mine works now with a train ticket around the batteries, surprised that's all it took!

  • Spoke to my gf about this last night, she only used hers for three days before the button exploded, it had also been intermittent the whole time...

Mine stopped working (again) on the way home from work last night, I'll take you up on that refund offer...

  • Going to try the business card kludge on mine later, hope that clears up the intermittent issue with mine too.

That's fine, PM me, do you want to meet me again?

  • **Update: off the market

**I've decided to make an executive decision and take these off the thread for the following reasons:

    1. They aren't turning a profit, and testing/packing/posting is a lot of work.

    2. They work beautifully as extremely bright torches/or helmet lights, but some people have complained they become intermittent/cut off on bumpy roads mounted to the handlebars, an issue I didn't come across until very recently. I have offered refunds/discounts to those who contact me with a fault.

  • it appears many different light designs suffer from the batteries becoming briefly disconnected when knocked.

with traditional torches this was not a problem as the switch was physically turned to the on position

but with modern torches that scroll through various settings the disconnection can result in the torch going off or changing mode

i have had a similar problem with an exposure flare light

  • Have you got some excess straps then? how much for 2 posted?

  • I do have left over straps in red, yellow, green, blue for £3 each.

  • Right, thread closed. PM me with refund/return queries if you've had any problems.
