Ooops. That should have read LUMENS. I shall correct it.
Also, I agree with you, and I don't actually even consider using my 275 lumens light unless fog is present, or snow flurries, or very heavy rain (combined with dark clouds above).
This flickr photo (not mine) gives exactly the conditions I witnessed, and it was taken within the last 24hrs.
