I'd buy seatpost/saddle if you dont want them. There are a few folk on here from yorkshire, could try asking them nicely.

Harry Quinn is a well known name in UK cycling circles, but the number of collectors who'd be interested in a bike like this is small.
If you look at the vendor's other listings you'll see he has a tendency to over price, i.e. a Trek 5900 f&f for £1100, and he puts less effort than I've put into this post in writing his listings which tends to put people off in my experience.
Personally, I'd say the Harry Quinn is worth a couple of grand at most. If he listed it at £1 with no reserve then he'd find it's true value and, in my opinion, eBay tends to reflect market prices well.

cool
didn't mean to sound pedantic but I've had a lot of ebay bidders/winners that fell silent after I sent them congrats on winning the item and the invoice, I always hope that bidders know what they're doing. Apparently you did :-)
cheers

Can someone who knows a lot more than me tell me what that bike is worth? Just curious to know just quite how overpriced it is.
For a start the colour scheme is fugly. The only time I have seen black and gold work is on the JPS Lotus Type 79 Formula one car of the 1970's and on some of the JPS specials such as the Europa and Elan. On the Harry Quinn it just looks naff.
I am always wary of a seller who tells you more about themselves than about the item they are selling i.e. 'was lucky to be selected to ride the centenary Tour lap in 2003, see pics' and 'I was also invited into The US Postal team and family areas extensive photos, taken at the time'. He does not even tell you the frame size. Also wary when they include the get out clause 'Item listed other places', presumably so that they can pull out of the sale if they do not get as much as they want. Smacks of a control freak.
The bike has also been listed previously at an inflated price and failed to sell then.
Market forces always dictate the value of an item and estimating the value of a bike like that is always very difficult. Bearing in mind that I do not intend to get involved in a debate regarding value I would expect to see it go for between £1k-£2k, but that is very much a guess. I can certainly think of a better way of spending that amount of money.

I submitted my previous posting before seeing the response from andyp so we have both come up with roughly the same estimate independently. Andyp has submitted a good reply with very relevant points, particularly about the amount of effort the seller has made in drafting the listing and the number of collectors who would be interested.
Hope this helps.

it seems dificult to find a high end modern track frame with a tt longer than 57cm, this has 58cm tho 59cm would be ideal. -

I really hate this - im sure its wrong of me to, being a Hetchins - but its a horrible paint job and cluttered build.
I agree. For me, the ornate nature of Hetchins is already treading a fine line between gaudy & grand, they can look pretty slick, but when you coat one in gold and put weird H.R. Giger bottle cages on it...well, it starts to look like something designed by the papacy.
