  • it's the silicone strap that was originally around the grinder to hold the handle, with a bit of coaxing, it sits nicely around the outer of the aero.

    also, was unsure how to set the grind setting on the porlex, there are no indicator marks. However, the adjuster has definite clicks as you undo it. So, I went for 3 clicks from closed as a benchmark. It worked quite well (same resistance on the "plunge" as when I have used pre ground espresso coffee), might go one click tighter/finer, so 2 clicks from closed - for the mathmatically ungifted.

    also, I don't have digital scales and do not intend to buy them. I hope to get to a point where I can judge by eye how full the hopper is to get the right amount of beans. The lower half of the hopper is split into 3, i reckon about 5mm below the top of those compartments/divisions should do it.

    Also, various website said 1 dose should take about 100 turns. I wasn't counted but it seemed like a lot less than that. Might count next time, if I can be arsed/am not engrossed in Bill Turnbull's anecdotes on t' telly the morrow mornin.
