There's discussion on a 'zombie' (a player who has to tap out) being in the way of a goal bound shot in the rules discussion thread I think. It's at the ref's discretion but I think generally it should be treated as a goal.
You are right it is at the refs discression. But i (and i think, most refs) would not call a goal if the ball did ot cross the line.
Instead i would issue a ball turnover and perhaps take the footdowned player out the game for 30 seconds.

+1. kev i have never ever seen a goal awarded that didnt cross the line. Whether it 'should' be treated as such or not.

I've always said that the only time a goal should be awarded on a cheating/foot downing goalie is when there isn't enough time on the clock to award a power play (2 minutes if you're certain the keeper was in the wrong), this enables the other team to get their goal back, bringing the keeper back in play.
If we ever have an "overtime" rule (or similar) to allow games to extend beyond their given game time (if a penalty has been awarded) then we could get rid of the "it's a goal if the ref wants to call it a goal" stupidity.

There was a discussion about it after HB after Tornadoes had a goal bound shot blocked by someone who was a bit lax in tapping out. I think it should have been awarded, but thats just my opinion (just saying, and so on), the important phrase in my previous post being "I think" rather than the "should" part.
The game yesterday had a shot on goal almost immediately after both Kit and Barry (both in the way) had to tap out, so I was fine with it not being called.
Puiyin you did a good job with the goal reffing dont stress over it! -

London bike polo league.

• #465
Is that a rule, do we actually have to play in London?
(last year there was a game in Germany wasn't there?)
-
• #466
No, you can do what you want really.
I think its probably fair to say, if you try to arrange a game outside of London and it can't happen for whatever reason the the forfeit will fall at your feet.
-
• #467
Yeah I wasn't answering what I thought was the chance of actually getting the correct six polo players to cambridge was!
I'd quite like the idea of playing in Cambridge, but when most fixtures have at least one person who needs to head straight off after the fixture I'd say it's pretty unlikely.

To give everyone a little longer to arrange fixtures, round 3 & 4 are up.

Don't know if this site has been mentioned, but it could potentially help with organising fixtures:
Free to use, it helps people fix a date or dates that everyone can make, without needing to ping loads of emails back and forth - worth noting that you need to use the "settings" tab to enable the "possibly" option.

James has had a promotion at work, means hes working a late shift today and so can't get to the court till 9. He did pm you all on Friday.
The order for the 2nd and 3rd game might be wrong, so Louis, you could be right. I am not 100%.
