Well, yes, if you are hungry you have the same 'right' (or natural inclination) as any other animal, to eat what sustains you.
I know my cat or even my pet chickens would not hesistate to eat me given the chance. And I would eat them too if I needed to. (Even though I literally hug my chickens at times).
