I have a basket on an entirely inappropriate bike at the moment, that means it belongs in here right?
I don't anticipate it affecting the handling too much as I plan to use it exclusively for carrying cake and beer (and sometimes breakfast maybe).

Cornflakes will go straight though that.

Thank you miller.
Also inappropriate racks can gtfo. There is no way they are of any use. All the wald baskets shown in this thread are installed improperly too. Anytime you put any weight in it they slouch. Cut the struts.

Thanks, here's a picture of how I usually ride it - the basket was for another bike really although I'm kind of enjoying it on this - and one from the back. Don't have a real camera unfortunately.
It also has mismatched crank arms and electrical tape on the places where I kept taking paint off. I bought it off the forum at the end of the summer and since then I've only ridden the first of my other bikes a couple of times and the second has remained a pile of bits. I love it.
Cut the struts.
I actually wanted to do this (when/if I put it on the other bike) but you're clearly not supposed to and it would mean drilling new holes. It moved a little when I tried putting heavy stuff in it and riding over speed bumps but it's all right otherwise. Definitely stupid though.

It's not to difficult. The basket should be level when the handlebar clamps face straight down to prevent it from moving. Mark where the axle should be. Saw them both evenly from the bottom and squeeze in a vice to flatten them out before re-drilling. Also use different bolts on the handlebar clamps. They're shit. I guess its what you pay for.
^That is a lovely bike.

this, it's really easy to do as the metal's so soft and makes it look so much better. I found it was easier to saw them off and redrill at the top rather than and the axle end of the struts

derp. sounds much easier.

not much, but also saves those lovely little holes at the axle end just under the axle hole which you can use to mount mudguards, should you ever want to
