You'd be surprised kev. Personally if I was setting it up I'd start the society and keep it all above board (the the point of having a constitution even and getting a bank account!) to start with until you are certain what the protocol is.
You could offer free assocciate membership to anyone in the lhbpa? Kev what's the reason not to make everyone that comes a member? Just takes some bits of Paper (or even a file, maybe an open google doc?) the actual transfer of money is not the important thing.
