Epic industry on film - Redcar blast furnace - fuji colour 400
finally got around to sorting these films out.
It came out hella (-2 to - 4expo) underexposed (thanks to mega overhead floodlights) but I salvaged it as best I could.
Film is cheap fuji iso400 stuff, hence the immense amounts of grain.

This is about the closest I've ever come to getting into a project, entitled 'derelict workers' it was to feature workers caught at their duties in a multitude of derelict and live locations, steelworks, iron foundries, mills, powerstations, drains, cranes, ships, blast furnaces and heavy chemical works. Sadly it was never to be, lack of cash, lack of clarity and a serious overdose of depression put paid to the project, in a few days flickr will expire, and to be honest, probably so will I. Become bored of needing to spend so much time to get everything/anything organised and logical that stuff will ultimately just linger on a hard drive or in a negative book for ever more.Last shot, a parting gift as it were.....

Some really interesting photos there, BrickMan.
Out of interest, why are you letting your flickr expire? Do you not want to afford it any more?

• #3007
Brickman, I wish I had your sense of adventure. And head for heights. :) Would love to know how you manage to get to these places!

Cost and faff.
Interesting places just sort of happen, anyone can get to most if these places if they put their mind to it :)

such a shame they haven't sorted flickr out, the UX is awful

Ah, so it won't disappear.
Anyway, I saw some of Red Saunders work today. I didn't particularly like it but it is impressive in scale. He essentially recreates key, but not so well known moments in the history of democracy.
Apparently this was stitched together from 102 5x4 negatives..

Kodak Portra 160VC through a Cosina CT-1A
-
• #3014
Last two are really good. I think my mum has that wallpaper. The light on the doors in the second one is great.
I've got a Cosina CT 20, very similar cameras by the looks of things. Mine is in pretty poor condition though. It's small and light for an SLR which is why I like it.

Before it goes on eBay is anyone interested?
My recent trip confirmed it all - two cameras in the bag and I keep reaching for my favourite. So my XA is up for sale. I think I picked it up for £70 with the A11 or A16 flash (can't remember which as I never used it) and a canvas case that fits the XA with flash attached. I've got instructions too. £60 delivered, anyone?

• #3016
Thanks man, my cosina is battered has fungus in the lens and the meter has a mind of its own, but I can't bring myself to use any other 35mm slr let alone get rid of it (it gets used easily twice as much as my 5D).
When I first got it, it was branded Petri with a badge screwed on covering the cosina logo on the prism and another stuck over the model number? -

^ Could somebody buy this and let me borrow it please? :)
-
• #3021
^ excellent plan, i can borrow too
(that's very tempting to buy)
-
• #3022
A little on the pricey side imo - Coolscan IV's tend to go for 260-300 ish on ebay, although that one does look in very good condition.
They are superb scanners by the way - WAY better than any flatbed scanner - but obviously limited to 35mm only... (unless you want to pay thousands for a 9000)
-
• #3023
Would it be ridiculous to suggest non-digital forum ownership?
-
• #3024
I'm not just talking about this scanner. If there was something else out there at a better price more suited to our needs like...

^ that's a lovely thought. how would it work practically? someone buys the whole thing and rents it, or we chip in and it travels between us?
Y U NO WIND ON? Pull.... Snap.
Managed to forget I had 24exp in the camera rather than 36, so the first roll I shot in my Yashica is now in a bin after getting all torn up :(
