i had some montane trousers - the ones that are heavier than featherlite
they were great for a while but road grit being sprayed up then caused abrasion (before i had a rear mudguard) at which point they got totalled, initially a few small leaks, then holes wore through, finally one of the holes got snagged on my saddle - could have been quite dangerous
i tend to have a pair of rapha touring shorts in my bag, if its pissing down i will put them on and keep my trousers dry in my bag
