... at which point it dawned on me that the batteries are, in fact, interchangeable.

I ride with 2 red rear lights and one white front. The batteries died on the front one so i put the second red blinky on the front and rode 15-odd kms home... at which point it dawned on me that the batteries are, in fact, interchangeable.
Not in Australia they're not, they're all upside down.

Back light is far more important.
In theory oncoming traffic will be on the other side of the road.
Do know of any stats regards bike/car accidents but I would imagine the vast majority of them involve the car going into the back of the cyclist. -

I will take all of that under consideration.

My front lights are much more important. It is people who dont see me coming that put my life at risk on a regular basis.

This is weird. Why all this talk about which is better? Use both and either carry some spare batteries or avail yourself of one of London's famous London's corner shops or garages to purchase more when your old ones run out.

i dont think anyone suggested it was either or...

I have USB chargeable lights. The debate is down to that same ol' problem. People is people and will debate over any little thing.

A Barclay's biker cut across me yesterday morning on the westbound junction of the Imax Roundabout, forcing me to stop before he moved onto the roundabout going the wrong way round it to then head north on the southbound side of Waterloo Bridge.
I called him a dickhead but he just ignored me.

You do see some ludicrous stuff from people riding the blue bikes, but guess lots of these people aren't used to cycling, never mind in London. Also it's fair to say that lots of them probably just don't give a shit because it's a hire bike and all. Guess we just need to give them some space to let them do their crazy business.
You can 'report' the bike number to TfL who will then write to the user, but that's probably pointless anyway. The cops do it now and again, AFAIK.

I do alot of irresponsible late night Borisbike riding.
Once the green light flashes It's like a licence to behave like a cock.
Not really sure what to suggest. -

Today: Left hand side of ASL, not track standing (can't) but making a reasonable go at staying in my clips on my SS. I'm waiting at a red to turn left onto Mile End Road and I know it's about to change so I'm ready enough. Lady on an MTB in a flouro gilet swings round my right, across my front and leers towards left hand railings, swerves back at a diagonal across my path and stops. The light goes green, she misses her pedal, gets going and goes.... straight on! I called her out gently so as not to startle her (not good to wake sleepwalkers I'm told) which is nothing compared to the horns and abuse she received from the drivers attempting a left and then the drivers she encroached upon who were up to speed going straight on.
Primarily I fear for her safety. Total and absolute lack of sense or control. Her stumbling insistence on being at the front of the queue nearly had her squished because she totally failed to be in the right place, to make her intentions known or to pull away.

There's a lot of that type of rider about, always has to be at the front ready to go, then starts at the slowest possible rate with no intimation of direction. There's a guy on my route who continuously undercuts ANYONE, bikes cars buses. Never signals, always in the wrong place. He frequently sits far right at Dalston Junction coming North, to then cut across everyone and go left, completely mental. I just advise anyone around me at that point in time to sit and wait as Stupid is about to be his very self.

But if you tell others to let him do his thing then he doesn't know he is doing anything wrong.

Anyone else see the police outside the windmill pub on Clapham Common this morning? Seemed to be giving a cyclist a b*llocking, but doing it actually stood in the cycle lane, meaning everyone else had to pull out into the traffic to get by. Thanks for that.
There was another lot outside Battersea Park as well, but didn't seem to be bothering people when I went by.

Oh I'm not the only one to have made attempts in pointing out his sheer lunacy. He keeps on doing it no matter what anyone says. I'm aware of his swerve tactics, so ride accordingly, I thinkn others are becoming more aware and avoiding him as if the Ready Brek Kid was full of GangGreen!
But if you tell others to let him do his thing then he doesn't know he is doing anything wrong.

Last Friday (4th) ended up in noddegeddon on way home, folks undercutting, not signalling etc etc, anyway I decide I just take it easy and drop em at a nice clear route. Cross over Pentonville Road going up Penton Street heading towards the Zebra crossing next to TFL cycle hire building/ Taxi place, see a ped waiting to cross so I slow down then stop, then boom not 1,not 2 but 3 nodders clip me,hit and crash into me..one has the cheek to say what you doing? as ped is standing there wide eyed on zebra crossing trying to cross.
Now not only have they crashed into me they then all cycle off across the zebra crossing with ped still trying to cross without a care in the world.. I turn round rather pissed off and ask 'any other of you f**king nodder muppets want to crash into me for obeying the rules of the road?' Though to be fair the other folks behind me on bikes are just gob smacked at what they've just seen.
But I've never encountered such idiots on the road, and they wonder why cyclists get a bad rep!
