  • Peasant.

You seem to be developing a siege mentality.

Oliver is developing a liege mentality.

  • ... that photo's dreadul cyclotyron3k! Bah.

Now that we approach BTOB's first active winter, could people make a concerted effort to tag in daylight or take only good quality pictures that work well at night. i.e. if you conceive a tag by day, please be sure that a night time picture would also offer enough visual interest and distinctiveness.

Otherwise I can see this thread declining even more rapidly than the Easter Islanders.
/insert Rhowe's picture of Hampstead Pond here. grumble/.

Trotting out the Standard response would probably only work on the football thread so:

    This...

No point in tagging something, if it disappears (as much fun as tagging a pre guy fawkes night bonfire would appear), or providing poor photo's, without clues which require the detective ability of sherlock holmes, or some sort of divine intervention to figure out.

If Fussballclub can get it in the chops for taking more interest in taking photo's of his bike rather than the surrounds, then those who provide photo's that are obtuse through their poor quality should get a slap as well..

  • Photos.

  • maybe that is inkeeping with the establishment

Think you're on to something here. Not googling such establishments at work though! Cunning link back to the last tag though c3k.

  • I thought idea of a bonfire tag was good, I was hoping for a pic of a bike sat next to a big pile of ashes or at least some scorched earth. Did the place really get re-turfed so quickly?

Nah, relax a bit. some are hard, some are easy, some are beautiful photography, some are not. This one is still gettable, and there is a link to the previous one so its not bad really

    +1 great idea.

We've had another temporary tag before (some kind of easter thing if I remember that was being dismantled when someone else got it?) and there wasn't much of a problem. If something tagged is later moved/removed then just go on the previous location, not necessarily the stuff at that location.

I'm waiting for the first tag of something mobile that will be in a different place when it needs to be tagged again. :P

  • jb000,

I'm fully chilled, I know this tag, if I didn't know it, I would have no idea where it was or what it was, even with the clue. The photo is poorly taken at night, which makes it doubly hard. I don't mind doing some leg/guesswork. But I'd like to see clearly what it is I'm searching for.

I'm not saying every photo needs to be a thing of beauty, I'm saying at least make it so that those who want to spend some time finding it, have the chance to, by giving them the best image possible, so they can see what they are searching for.

I want people to find my tag, hopefully after a long and fruitful search, but to do that I've at least got to give them something clear to work from. Others may not feel the same way, such is forum life, horses for courses and all that.

  • Oooh there's a good idea. Will mess up the map a treat.

John is on the money though, bad photos - no. Hard tags - yes! I like a challenge.

I know where my next tag will be...

As usual that great visionary, Ludwig, is way ahead of us...

  • I know you've taken a lot of flak already for the latest tag -please don't take this personally I just don't think it's been done before - but I'm not sure I'm cool with blocking part of the photo out... seems wrong.

  • it's been done once before, to my knowledge. Someone obscured a road name I think.

I'll take a better one tonight (if it still stands). I'm aware it's an appalling photo, but I was hoping it was easy enough to get that the poor quality wouldn't be such an issue!

    ^_^

  • I think someone just needs to tag this so we can all move on with our tagging lives.

Not me though, because I don't know where it is.

  • What a palaaarrva!

  • 1 bad photo == 1 page of rants about it.

  • Oliver is developing a liege mentality.

    Very good.

  • ^ Battering ram.

  • the forum must be getting all sorts of caring and sharing, for the politely expressed views above to be called rants.

Don't want to play the HTFU card, but come on...

    I will now insert chevrons.

  • cool. no worries, i do see what you mean. I just think no one should feel they dont have a really good tag or photo or something and be put off. (i know that is not what you are saying)

  • Damn, I stayed in bed instead of going to my lecture so I didn't get the fire station tag, and now I have no clue about the new one. Hrmm.

  • I know you've taken a lot of flak already for the latest tag -please don't take this personally I just don't think it's been done before - but I'm not sure I'm cool with blocking part of the photo out... seems wrong.

For what it's worth, I'm totally in agreement with this.
But I think the beauty of the game is that it means different things to different people and we're all essentially playing our own games but all together, if that makes sense. It's all about the ride/ an opportunity to take beautiful photos/ the stories or history behind the tags/ the competition/ a reason to bunk off uni/ etc etc.
For me, technology allows me to play but won't dictate my game, so if it's a crap photo, well, as long as the tag is visible, then game on.

Anyone for another ride soon? Another couple of hours one evening? Could do south of the river or something?

That's exactly what I was expecting. Weirdly, the park attendant guy insisted that was where the bonfire had been.
