It is going to be impossible to write this without making some kind of inadvertantly smutty-sounding comment, so let me apologise for that right off the bat.
I have just received a pair of Shimano 600 levers in the post, the right-hand of which apparently doesn't always work properly. The seller (who actually gave them away with different 600 parts, top bloke) reckons it could just be general muckiness inside that is causing the problem.
So how easy are they to clean? Is it possible to clean them without dismantling? Does anyone have any experience of the 'Donald approach' as outlined by Sheldon Brown below, or any tips? Should I just run it a little bath of GT85 and foaming degreaser and let it soak for a bit?
The picture of the dismantled 600 lever is giving me nightmares about the whole thing
