skinny, replace as soon as possible, even if it's a little knock, helmet are designed to be used once, much like the crumple zone of a car.

Helmets are 'designed' to fit a price bracket and pass the crude and ever decreasing standards involved in testing, and no more.

That may as well be true, but it's worth being safe than sorry.

What's the word on replacing a helmet after a knock? How big a knock?
Took a small-medium knock the other day... 20mph/ish straight over bars head/arm first.most manufacturers do crash replacement discounts.

My helmet cracked when my bike fell on it in '09. Should I replace it?
-
• #3457
Oh, I did replace it but deemed the replacement too expensive to use for commuting duties.

Just be happy your banjo string is still in one piece.

why is this thread 3565 posts long?
No-one gives a shit either way. I have never (empirically measured) seen any cyclist make any comment to another one about wearing a helmet in teh real world. Not ever.
Not true- a chap had a go at me the other day, he followed me along the A205 shouting "where's your helmet?!", he was proudly wearing a skate lid style number.

I can't believe you let me knock your bike over.

Sensible fellow. They are cheap and safer than expensive road/xc-mtb hats, which prioritise comfort over safety. If you can live with the lack of ventilation, the Bell Faction is about as good as it gets in cycle helmets.

I reckon the spesh street smart helmet is a good combination of the BMX and road helmet.

We're all here to enjoy our riding, wether you wear or not wear a helmet, a Giant Bunny suit or ride to work on an Elephant....... so enjoy your ride, be as safe as you always have been, with no shadow glances to those that wear and those that don't....... We have the Liberty of choice, personally, I'd rather keep the Liberty for that very reason........ I may get castigated for this moderate eutopia type thinking, it's a personal opinion and nothing more...........
Having just bought a bike for my commute I now really want an elephant instead. Are they allowed in bus lanes? (I would use a helmet)
-
• #3469
Well, buses don't argue, Popo's seem completely confused at what to do, and buses stay well back......... seems to work, no complaints so far........ pricey on feeding though........ good luck with the new bike, I'm saving for a Giraffe.......

Why am I called?
I've got a lot of non-cyclists going 'oh god wear a helmet', on the other hand. What do they know that we can't decide on?
