Kate Moross does lots of pretty, fashionable work, the kind of thing you see in Grafik and lots of the end of year design/illustration shows. There's no real substance to it but it looks nice.

The popular view that fashion is vacuous and has no artistic merit is extremely narrow-minded and lazy. It's a real annoyance to me, this idea that there's a pecking order of integrity amongst the so-called arts, with architecture (sometimes referred to) as the ultra-high-brow, serious "mother" and fashion/clothing-design being somehow low-level. Graphic design, architecture, fine art, music and 'fashion' are all at the mercy of trends and perception... AKA fashion.
The fashion world can be superficial and fickle, but there are lots of interesting people making really good things that far outstrip lots of lesser creative endeavours in other fields. You can easily point out buildings, literature, product design that is hopelessly trendy but (conversely) items of clothing, adverts and pop songs that all do something really interesting within their respective contexts.
Fuck, I said 'pop songs'... I am officially old.

Fashion is imprint. This applies to all.
It is when you knock something but end up buying / using / wearing/ saying it a week later.
