bollocks - the flats are rubbish for removing that cup - make a tool like this - below
mine has never failed to remove those cups
(choose a large aggressive thread like a car wheel bolt has on it. smaller, tighter and shallower thread will strip. use oil or grease on the thread of the bolt. you can get it together for a pound or two ):
