Off-road is well fun, but I just don't do it. Would rather ride road to the coast than drive to Thetford.

The driving sucks. I would love to live near some big mountains.

I'm still passively searching for a reasonable touring bike, or parts thereof. For road touring and ~150mi intercity day rides. Anyone who has something that might be of interest, let me know.

How about totally refurbishing your Dawes for touring?

How about totally refurbishing your Dawes for touring?
A rear dropout snapped off three years ago, since welded back on, and then the front forks ended up like this:
shortly after I noticed a faint crack showing through the paint.
Some have said that the frame should be retired completely. If not, then I still need new forks for it and, realistically, most other components. It might not be worth it, I don't know.
I'm also considering just putting together a crude "touring hack" on a cheap hybrid frame I've got, I'd need to replace all components, though, so again perhaps not an economical option.
I've got a few sets of drops fit for use, but none with shifters, so they might not do for the hybrid conversion. Unless I can fit downtube shifters on it, perhaps.

Or I could just catch the train, couldn't I.

Decided the Hardrock is definitely going, cheap as chips at £200 for pickup / local delivery or £210 for national delivery.
Facts:
2010 Specialized Hardrock Disc, spec is entirely OTP
Ridden around 100 miles, been treated nice and not hammered.
15" frame that would suit people around 5'6" - 5'8"Will post in main classifieds later but locals get first dibs.
It's on other forums too so may get sold elsewhere. -

23.5 inch 531 frame for sale. 1980 Carlton Pro-Am, unused since powder coat and new headset. Junior didn't want to ride it so I didn't build it. Perfect basis for fixed; I have another built up and it is my fave bike.
£100 collected from Harleston, 20 miles south of Norwich. 01379 855021/skywings@bhpa.co.uk.

I'm selling my fixed gear.
Audax machine all the way from me. Might even buy myself a nice hub geared bike as well.

How much?
-
• #866
Selling the whole bike with drops, bulls and flats for 325. Oh and some carbon forks which I'll throw in.
On one wheelset also.

Dan, don't buy another bike that's too small for you...
-
• #868
This one won't be too small I'm a big lad. Not as big as you Sparky, but then not many people are.

• #869
Ouch

I thought you had the 58 Spence? Think that would be OK size wise - but bit too spendy for me. Looking for a cheap winter beater at the moment. Not sure what to do about bikes. Want a road bike for the spring, and would also kind of like to replace the 'Roller, but also want to save up for the Donny do-anything-bike I've been pondering..
-
• #871
How much are you looking to spend? I wouldn't really want to go under £300 for full bike.

Ouch
Pow!

Why does nobody want to do things like this when it's warm and dry?
Booo. Off-road is fun. Shame my MTB languishes in the garage these days.
