  • Well done

David, is the size of the community critical to this working?

    No.

The size of the network of communities is, and the number of active people on the network. But not the size of any single community, though clearly having a good sized one to start with will help give us the feedback to produce the right thing sooner... so it has advantages (i.e. when you all moan about changes, I'll know to listen).

  • Seriously good luck. Seems like you've been through this 1000x in your head. Your determiantion comes through in your type and I suspect it will get you there.

  • no idea what this thread is about, but good luck with it sounds like it gets you fired up the right way- go lead it.

Pretty much that - something about opting-out to opt-in, or summat.

Can't argue with the urge to do what you think it is you were put on earth to do when it begins to prove overwhelming. Good luck with your new route.

  • Wow...don't really understand the technical side, well, don't understand it at tbh but brrrappps on the brave move and ta! for getting this forum and community as far as you have done. I'm a relative newbie but I've already got so much out of this place...got more into cycling and learnt about cycling than ever, had some ace rides and nights out and made some really awesome new friends. Good work!

  • Ballsy and I love it! All the best to you!

    +1

  • Good luck David. Brave move but I'm sure you won't regret it.

  • "Who dares wins Rodders"

    Good luck Dave!

  • There's nothing more exciting than quitting your job to do somethIng you're genuinely excited about.

    It's a great idea.

  • I think it's an excellent idea, all the best with it.

  • Good luck. It would be amazing to work on a YC seed.

    This ^

I like the idea of lots and lots of small communities. Are you following the logic of Dunbar's number by keeping everything small so that the communities don't grow too large and lose the sense of inclusiveness and trust that is essential to a well-functioning group? Or am I just projecting that because I read 'The Tipping Point' recently and want to sound clever...hmmm...

  • Velocio; I have been thinking about this today and am relieved I am not the only one who doesn't really understand what you are doing. I don't know if at any point you will have to sell your idea to people who are as ill informed as I am but if you do, and don't take this personally, bear in mind that you have never shown any ability at all, and I mean any ability, to explain IT stuff in simple terms. Even when you try to.

  • Bold bold move Sir, so much respect for this.

  • My wife said to my friend 'John doesnt do face book LFGSS is his facebook'

    Go VB

  • All the best with this David. A bold and exciting move! Ax

Things like this are almost always better demonstrated rather than explained :-)
Once you can start SHOW people an idea its much easier for them to imagine how they can make use of it.

"If you build it they will come"

I have a huge respect for you for doing this David. There is too little entrepreneurship in this country.

"Its better to regret something you have done, than to regret something you haven't done"

  • Very best of luck, a very brave move! x

  • bear in mind that you have never shown any ability at all, and I mean any ability, to explain IT stuff in simple terms

Shit, really? That's what I do for a living!

  • DIE YOU YUPPIE BASTARDS DIE - YouTube

    You're mental :-)
But no one ever achieved anything by playing it safe.

    Good luck!

  • D this is great news! when i am back in London I'm going to email you. its all gonna be fine. x

  • Shit, really? That's what I do for a living!

See, there's your problem. Simple! Not *simple. *
There's an episode of The Simpsons where Mo goes for an audition for a daytime soap. The producer takes one look at him and says to her assistant "My God, when I said ugly I meant TV ugly".

  • no idea what it is either but good luck with it anyway.

  • Excellent news David, good luck tomorrow.

Will the forum slogan have to change?

"LFGSS; it's fucking rubbish and it's cost DK his salary."

  • Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.
