I'm having a crack on the Challenge Criterium open tubular today. They're super cheap ATM from Planet X

Hmmm, I was all set to upgrade to some Pro 3 but this is making me wonder - are they really so flimsy? Also Vittoria has surprised me in quality when I have used their tyres in the past because they often get pitched as the budget option on wiggle etc...

I've only had one blow out on my Michelin Pro3. Mainly due to my error. Split the tyre wall and got an instant flat. Apart from that, I've had no issues. Reviews on wiggle do make out that they are puncture prone but people are always quick to complain. Me personally, I'd recommend them, feel grippy and fast rolling. Picked up a pair for less than £50 too.

Much higher price--£40 each! You can get the Pro 3 Race for £22 at the moment, which I think is what I bought mine for when I first bought some three or four years ago, as shops are clearing their stock of them. They're good for me as I'm not very puncture-prone and I've never had a problem with them. I still run some Pro 2 Race tyres on my road bike which I must have bought five or six years ago (the tyres, not the bike).

I had good experiences with the Pro Race 3s (on the road bike).
Faster, lighter and grippier than the various 'training' tyres out there and perhaps as fast as Vittoria Corsa Tubs. Just not as smooth or classy! They were a bit too soft/thin/nice for the winter riding I put on them though. They collected a lot of glass and cut up badly.
I'd buy them again for dry 'nice bike' usage.
Michelin Pro Race 3 FTW. Yea ok, they don't last 5 minutes, prone to splitting/punctures etc but so what, they're the fastest tyre you'll get (unless somebody can tell me otherwise). I save them for my fixed and use the old Raleigh 'beater' racer for getting to work. Plus they look cool with the ivory side walls.
