Just started at UEA and would love to get involved if anything's still going on. Probably gonna have to change my gear as Norwich is a bit hillier than native Cambridge though

I'm doing American Studies, staying in Britten House, how about you? What you riding?
-
• #156
also was considering the alleycat but don't really know the routes yet; only been on a handful of rides since i got here

Im studying Ecology, in Britten house too, Flat 25. I ride a Giant Bowery, SS obviously, what about you?
-
• #158
nice dude, add me on facebook (Will Gladman) and we should go on a ride sometimes. I have a Gazelle Champion Mondial fixed but i think I need to change my gearing in the next week or so
-
• #159
What gear are you running? Norwich isn't that threatening.

can't wait next wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!

How many people here study at UEA, does UEA people need to create a Facebook Fixed Gear page??
Do we need that? hands up plz... -
• #162
I'm running 48 - 14 and actually it seems okay, I'll hold onto it for now. UEAFGSS would be cool, count me in. Haven't really had a chance to explore the city yet so would be cool to meet up

That's quite a few gear inches you have there.
-
• #164
70ish I think? It's great for downhill but horrendous for up, can't decide whether or not to change hmm
-
• #165
Assuming you're running 700c wheels, it's around 90!
-
• #166
so what would you suggest? only really had such a high gear cos living in the countryside meant lots of hills and lots of spinning otherwise
-
• #167
I'd put a 16 (high 70s) or 17 (low 70s) on the back. Depends if you prefer working harder uphill or down. I ride 48/17 (74") fixed and 44/16 (70") singlespeed.

I think I have a solution...
-
• #169
I've got one, it's too complicated, will never catch on.
-
• #170
I'll try 16 for a bit and see what happens. getting a bit tired of having to crawl up hills.
-
• #171
Have you considered the Sturmey Archer 3 speed fixed hub?
I have one these for the fixie I am building.
-
• #172
I have considered but i'm also desperately poor, i'll just throw on the 16t i have lying around.
-
• #173

I wouldn't worry about not knowing the routes; most of the locations/road or street names are listed with the clues that I have set; although a couple of them are points that can be seen from the locations of other clues. So all that is really needed for a newcomer to the city is an A-2-Z and few minutes to plan your route at the start of this Alleycat

Pedal Revolution on Bethal Street just tightened my brakes for free, I just wheeled it into the workshop and the bloke willingly sorted them out. On the wall of the workshop was a calendar displaying an attractive tattooed lady with no vest on.

Pedal Rev = great service one day, then a rude and frosty reception the next. Never know what you're going to get.
Safe. I got a winter hack now up and running. Hopefully have the Dolan up amd running again soon.
