That does seem to make sense, thinking back to friends who think they've got it nailed then over they go. I went over my first time, was slowing down to a stop on a very narrow country lane to let a horse by. As I fall the horse gets a fright and bucks up in the air with this elderly gentleman rider being totally calm and in control. It's funny how after a while it becomes second nature.
Everyone has a first time spd story and thats a great one. Me and a mate got ours for christmas when we were about 14 and went out on boxing day to ride up an iced up, very steep, country lane. Obviously we fell off a number of times and slid on our arses, attached to the bike down the hill. We still remind each other about it now, almost 20 years on :)
