Anyone else? Otherwise I will email them and get a confirmed quote.

  • Yup will confirm this evening - sorry about the delay.

  • Cool. Dov- do you want to remove yourself and go for the 500mm/track wheels, or are you still interested in the 38mm rims?

I popped into Tokyo fixed at lunch, they had the 20mm clincher rims in for ~£350 per rim.

    Looked quite nice.

  • Why don't we have a list? That's the old fashioned way of doing this, add yourself and what you want, and we'll run it until next Friday, then I'll confirm the quote with Mae and place the order.

We'll need to work out how to sort the cash also- we'll need to get that together (PayPal maybe?) for when the order is placed.

    cough cough

  • Valid point, consider me admonished.

  • I'm in btw, just need to spend 10 minutes this evening deciding what configuration I want.

  • Looks like they are going to charge me $213 for my warranty rims built onto hubsmith hubs with cx-rays.

  • thought it was gonna be free??

  • Rims are free- I asked how much to provide them built up.

Got to pay for hubs and spokes.

Works out to about £135, which is what CX-Rays would cost on their own when I last looked at this.

  • Veigalane you have pm - Keen for a joint buy

  • Dan, you still want those 20mm?

I have to admit I keep thinking about them myself, having seen them in Tokyo fixed.

  • so is tomorow the deadlines? I dont mind waiting longer if it means more orders.

  • All prices exclude postage, 4% paypal charge and 20% sample surcharge.

    e) $213 (from Mae) OK

Confirmed prices back from Mae, just checking on postage now.

Could people have a look, and please confirm if they are still up for it?

  • Cheers for this. Opinions on Novatech hubs anyone?

Also, would be good if they could provide a part number for the dics hubs; Novatech seem to do both road and MTB disc hubs - would be good to know what they are quoting for.

  • Sweet, so no 20% then? If so im in. Was debating downgrading the wheels if otherwise.

  • Hovis- I'm not sure mate, they might apply that at invoice stage, what Mae has done is confirmed the price of the wheelsets that we have specified.

If we are all still happy then I'll ask for a formal invoice, including all costs such as postage, PayPal surcharge, yada yada, and post it here.

  • Ok, I have the invoice, $3435.

This includes the 4% PayPal surcharge (which we could avoid if I paid via bank transfer) and shipping, which is higher than expected at $480.

I have asked if there is something that could be done about the shipping cost- but bear in mind that the wheelsets are probably going to take up roughly a pallet when all put together.

Andy and Dov, could you PM me your email addresses and I'll forward on the invoice?

  • Ah, my mistake for making an assumption:

    "Hi Neil,

It is impossible to ship them all in one big box. It is dangerous. It will be damaged.

Our standard package for one wheelset is 83*69*19cm. Big box already.

    Regards.--Mae"

So, the charge is for sending each set of wheels out individually it would appear.

  • Ok, Dov is out, AndyP, Hovis, Howard, myself and Tiswas are in I believe- if anyone wants to make a change to their order could they please let me know, as I will ask Mae for a final invoice if there are no changes to be made, and start rattling the tin to get the cash together.

  • Hopefully this will come in time to go under my Christmas tree :)

  • Just orederd some SuperStarComponents cork pads for my Charbon rims. £7.99 for 4. The standard rubber Tektro ones I have, proved grabby.

  • Been exchagning emails with Mae, apparently they are intending on phasing out the rims that I have for ones with their new "basalt" braking surface treatment.

FSC50-TM (the ones that Howard is getting)

Sorry I havent updated from previous PMs, I am too poor to join in the fun,
    Good luck
