Hi all, thanks for the great advice so far,
Ive got a bianchi via nirone 5 I think it is.. and Im very happy with the comfort of the fit and size, (been riding it for 3 years now) but its a 24 speed.
I wanted something as a project and also to find out what all the who hare is about the single speed, so I found said dawes..
the frame is almost identical size and shape to bianchi, so that shouldn't be an issue.
I intend doing all the work myself, as Ive got the tools(£29.99 essential kit from halfords.. BRILLIANT value for money and everything I need)+ a little know how.
I was thinking to strip it down, respray it a matt black, and hit it with some deep red pinstriping.
As for components, Like I said before good quality for a fare price..., not skimping on anything, and keeping it light weight!
Ive now perchased the BBB headset so all good there.
Ive got some components from an old specialized sirrus 2 thats been lying around for a while (cracked frame), Which I think I can modify to fit and suit this build, ie crank set (was tripple,but nothing a grinder cant fix, and then get hold of a 49t chain set for the front.. only thing Id need is the BB..,
Ive had a look at what sheldon brown has to say, but when I search for 'British thread', nothing comes up??
I think its tapered because when I tried the sirrus BB it when in a little then just stopped..
I guess the only advise or recomendation I need then is for the BB..?
And ill figure the rest out as I go along.
