    ....lots and lots of good advice....

    ...and don't discount using your existing cranks.

    Also check the frame is the right size for you before you spend money on paint or a powdercoat.

    The cranks look like cottered cranks. In which case, I'd say move on. I tried so hard with mine, but at the end of the day it's just not worth it. Still it was a learning experience.

    Also definitely put some miles on the the bike before commuting money to resprays etc.
