  • Hi all,
I've got a stripped down frame,(PICS TO FOLLOW) and was wondering what components might be best to use when rebuilding?
I've done some research, and found some answers, but don't want to go ahead and purchase bits if they aren't gonna fit the old frame, or might look a bit silly!
I want decent spares that wont break the bank basically.
First and foremost can I use any 1" threaded head set? found a bbb on ebay that looks promising!
second question, can I use a modern carterage bottom bracket, or do I have to stick to the original cup and cone.. and whats the best bet?
Any other advice or recommendations are most welcomed
    Thanks in advance
    Duncan

    Welcome Duncan.

It's worth using the 'search' box (top right) for info on particular parts. Also read Sheldon Brown's pages on fixed gear and chainlines.

You should be fine with standard size 1" threaded headsets. Something like a Tange Prestige is pretty good and less than £20 and most likely stocked by the bike shop that you're getting to fit it.

You should also be fine with a standard British threaded cartridge BB. Read up on tapers and axle lengths, and don't discount using your existing cranks.

Also check the frame is the right size for you before you spend money on paint or a powdercoat.

    Best of luck.
