Gilet? the best a man can get.

I have a Descente gilet. I bought purely based on price. Packs down tiny, and is very effective for the weight. If I was to upgrade it would probs be to a Gore windstopper jobbie. I rate their windproof fabrics.

Over 3 years later, and the Gore one is still going strong.

Not waterproof but still keep you nice and toasty. Only had them three weeks, but so far quite impressed.

I have a Rapha one that I was given. It's nice and surprisingly versatile. Nothing to compare it to though

I have an embers merino one - v toasty for cold commutes.

I also have the windproof Rapha one, stows away small, great for cold starts when you know you will warm up later.

What size is the one that I borrowed from you James?

I tried the Gore one on at lunchtime and I'm between two sizes- to be long enough in the torso I need teh XL, but then I could fit a folded up duvet in there with me.

Those gloves look interesting... Only question is what would be the right size? Somehow i have lost both my summer and one winter glove.

I wore those gloves in today- my conclusion is that they are a bit out of their depth in this mornings temperatures.

The windproof "lobster" element did keep the fingers warmer than they otherwise would haev been, but I lost feeling in both thumbs as they were unprotected.

However, when I arrived at the coffee shop being able to remove the lobster bits led meant that I could get change out of my pocket/operate my wallet, both of which are tricky with "full" witner gloves.

I think in conclusion that these gloves would have been great on Sunday, when it was a bit brisk early on, with a lot of wind chill, but for todays much colder weather they are being asked questions that they cannot answer.

Oh that's a bummer, I was thinking of getting a pair. Will be steering clear then and their pretty pricey too.

Mine are fine and I have not noticed the cold, were on offer at cycle store for £19.99.
