I had a 38mm tyre mounted in the fork. Fitted well, but can't say much about left clearance for mudguards as I don't have such yet..
Also had to see, that it is a tricky job to get a big sized tyre to fit to the back with a long enough chain, enough clearance to the TT and the bridge on the seat stays.. Since the current chain is to short, I failed miserably to get it done.
Anyway, what I noticed then: there is enough clearance at the front to go maybe up to 42+ mm? (Provided the brake doesn't get into the way before the frame does..)
