• sounds like selling bike polo to the 1% to me.

Well no, Adam (main Nigerian contact) is actually interested to take the popularity of polo (horses) to the masses (bicycles) and has backing contacts at IMG who have already had success with creating grass polo leagues (and the like) for the masses in S. America.

The starting point is showcasing grass polo during their high-profile horse polo match, no doubt everyone involved also wants to create a new revenue stream from grass polo, but meh, it'll be a fun trip for the London contingent and the project would go ahead with (or without) our involvement.

I'm hoping we have a great trip, raise the profile for bike polo and source some contacts for the future development of hardcourt bike polo while we're at it.

Or it's all an elaborate scam, I'm starting to question the ~£20k I've invested to date...

To a certain degree it sounds like an opportunity that has previously been missed.

Maybe, maybe grass polo players just aren't keen on the hardcourt game? Paris would be the best location for a grass versus hardcourt tournament (they have an active grass polo scene still). London could get in touch with the Peddlers again (I've tried and not been responded to in the past).
