I wager a fiver that he'll finish the snow bike by the time it's summer.

This setup this winter too, but with that new on-one 42cm wide sit up and beg bar. Was -23celsius in that photo. Had snowboarding goggles and 4 pairs of pants on.

Try next winter. I'll get some of the big bits for Xmas, and the rest for my birthday in the summer.
Just recieved a promo E-mail from a Norwegian site I use. Had these on offer, 43% off....

The 2 winters I used biltema studded tyres. I did more damage in £s, then I saved buying shit tyres. They do have some nuggets in Clas Ohlsen though.

....erm OK.
29er tyres

http://www.bikeshop.no/aspx/produkt/prdinfovnet.aspx?plid=10695The 29er tyres are nice. But I only need studds for road riding, and dislike riding on the road on my MTB. The position is wrong, and I feel open to the constant wind we get. So9 I wont be investing in them. The second 26er tyres are foldable Hakka 300s (2.2"). I've seen a pic of them mounted in Kris Holm 47mm rims, and they looked like the ultimate ice tyre.

I love that bike. I've got to be honest I'm leaning towards a steamroller myself.
It's hard to find a bike which can take guards and looks good. I may go with p clips on the 'roller.

@smallfurry have you seen this
http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/moots-to-build-limited-run-of-frosti-snow-bikes-32040
There's a thread about it on MTBR Fatbikes forum. IIRC its $2000 or so for the frame. If I could streatch my budget (a lot). I would love a Ti Carver, with some custom geo, to suit my stumpy frame. Both Fatback, and 9zero7 do Ti options too.
I'm currently thinking of getting some 70/80mm rims. Which should be a decent year round size for me. The On-one frame, and either a fatback carbon fork, or a modified Flame suspension fork.
The annoying thing is that you cant build wheels untill you know what frame and fork you will be using. As they all have different widths, offsets, and disc brake specs.

I'm going to try and ride my Fuji all winter this year, I'm not going to make too many changes, just a set of grippier tyres and some mud guards, I'll probably put some flat pedals on as well so I can ride it in my boots. I hope that'll be enough for the 5 mile round trip to uni during the week and the 12 mike round trip to work at the weekends, I live in Bournemouth so it's hardly going to be arctic conditions.

Just priced up some Graceful fat sheba rims. less than half the price of over offerings. But bloody heavy. Thinking of using an old trials trick, and drilling 350g out of them as in the pic, but with an extra 5mm hole opposite each spoke in addition.
What could go wrong? ;)

Is it worth paying the extra for it over an on-one?

Well I really don't like the look of the on-one to be honest, plus it has a lot of other braze on's I won't ever use.
Been doing some research and this seems like another good choice,

OK, Just ordered some 1200g a piece rims. My inner weight weenie is screaming in discust.
Need to drill a shed load of material out of them. Should be fun. -

pity they didn't get the spoke holes lined up right.
At least I know someone has heavier rims than the A319's I have just built up...

Those are offset. For a bike like the pugsly, which uses a standard 135mm rear hub, pushed towards the driveside to allow the chain to clear the tyres.
Mine are standard. For use with a special extra wide hub. Tempted to drill a cool pattern into them.

I did actually realise they were offset (honest). Just making a clearly non funny remark.
My need for symmetry would never allow me to run those, I could never concentrate on the road knowing that my spoke holes were to one side.

@sf heard any more about the on one fat frame?
I contacted Brant via Facebook. He said that they usually take 4 months from prototype to production, but that they probably needed a new prototype (the MTBR thread mentions changes that would effect handling. So understandable). This would make it more like 8 months. This was just under a month ago.
The Sandman Gobi's are ready and waiting for the website to be finished.
The 2012 9zero7's are ready for order.
The 2012 Fatback is ready for pre-order, and the website is being updated.
The Mutluk 2 is out in the US.
The moonlander, and 2012 pugsly, are on there way.
Several US framebuilders do steel and Ti options.drums fingers

The offset on the moonlander is pretty extreme. Even has an offset crank.

Would be illegal if I made the laws. Good job I don't however, as it would be pretty fucked up...
I've ordered my first fatbike specific part. Joy.
Race Face Atlas crank arms for a 100mm BB. SS 31 tooth chainring also on the way. I really wanted some 165mm cranks, and an external BB. So these will be perfect. The previous plan, was to go with Middleburn arms, a Homebrewed spiderless chainring, and a Phil Wood 100mm square taper BB. Thats a pricey square taper set-up (would have looked flash though).
