  • I think the police may have fucked up masively though- the guy (evidenced by a google search of his phone number) is handling a lot of stolen bikes and probably part of quite a big operation, as the bike was stolen in Balham and sold in Bethnal Green.
When we were giving our statements, I asked if he'd be held overnight so the Cycle Task Force could deal with him tomorrow, and se he couldn't get in touch with anyone to let them know he'd been caught. The constable said "yeah, yeah" then turned to his colleague and said "you'd better seize his phone innit".
Aidan got on *his *phone and guess what? Gumtree ad had been taken down. The kid had been left in a cell on his own with his mobile, so had presumably contacted his paardners in crahme, who could have dismantled quite a large operation quite quickly I'd imagine.

Don't want to crap on your most excellent story. Main thing is you got the bike back and the thieving shit got arrested. The cops almost always get given a hard time here regardless of the results and fact is they helped you get your friends bike back.

Police cells aren't known for their roof gardens or panoramic views, I'd be amazed if the scrote could get a signal even if he did have his phone on him for a bit while in the cell. Think about how many times you can't get a signal while inside a building, then think about how thick the walls are of a typical police cell.
