  • DO A SKID it is

  • I am here. Where the devil is everyone?

  • Sad I'm missing this, baby sitting in solidarity.

  • this lonely hearts thing is getting out of hand!

  • hmm.. still a bit quiet, to my mind.. 'people-friendly streets' is so easy to ignore...

if you want to take hold of the narrative, and the moral high ground, (which is what a minority needs to do to get anywhere) you have to go with 'no more cyclist deaths', 'no more lethal junctions'. that's the only thing that forces politicians to act where the easy option is to do nothing. they don't want blood on their hands.

lcc are so scared of putting people off cycling, but one death like the one monday last week, (and a lurid story in the evening standard), does more harm than any campaign lcc might start... and drowns out all the positive campaigning, too.

what will start people cycling is roads that are safer, and feel safer. and right now we need to make the politicians act to provide them...

  • Enjoyable evening. Great ride back through the City after a few drinks at The Blackfriar.

Did feel a bit pointless, the first two certainly felt more raw, this was just a ride over the bridge to look at some roadworks, the twat on a megaphone at the north end saying thanks for coming (now go away and leave the bridge to real people in cars) pissed me off… maybe just blocking the junction outside TFL towers would have more effect.

  • Nah... that was fun! Lots of forum folk (judging by the number of caps), and lots of other nice cycling folk to chat to. Couple of pints afterwards always a winner.

  • Great night out and a personal escort home from MarkBikesLondon and Kiwi Nick (Nuck in his native tongue).

  • Post Blackfriar ride was ace.

    fantastic!

  • fantastic!

    +1

  • sorry i missed this.

    it looks well attended.

    well done those that did.

  • Good album Ben nice photos, I skillfully managed to avoid all of them!

The organisers and police were saying about 2400 people turned up for it which is pretty awesome the whole group took forever to turn round the junction at the end of the bridge which was very cool to watch.

Has it got into the news anywhere that anyone noticed?

  • Webof where did you go?

  • He went to the pub.

That was fun! I recommend being a pedestrian campaigner.

Good to see webof again and charlie_lcc and meet markbikeslondon and various others. It was a bit of a weird current work/old work/forum worlds colliding evening for me so sorry if I was talking nonsense. I was definitely talking nonsense by the end.

  • I was doing the pace control and one of the road blocks on the north east side of the bridge, where did you go after, I ended up in the Young Vic with a few people for some drinks. Need to get me a cap so I could join in with your crew!

  • Good turnout. I saw a few members, but don't know names (though I now know I saw hatbeard not on Tooley St!). I saw folk from yacf and CycleChat too, though I don't know about the BR crowd. I was carrying a spare 23 gears (actually 20: It's a long story), so may not have been as obvious as if I'd been on my fixed.

I felt we should have extended the protest a bit. Twice across the bridge would have been better, and several people commented that it ended a bit soon and without focus. I suppose that might be the essence of a flashride, but how much it was one is moot, given that it was organised with the plod in advance.

Talking of which, I think they acquitted themselves well. Unlike last time, where we got a pillock on a motorbike riding into the middle of the southbound lane, this time we had veloplod doing a good job of keeping motorists calm and out of the way. As Northbound reopened, I saw a motorbike trying to push through, and being kept behind the line rather expertly. Not often I am impressed with policing operations in The Great Wen, so it's worth mentioning when they get it right.

Now, do you think TfL were paying any more attention than were their workmen, blithely continuing to do the Wrong Thing at the north end of the bridge?

  • I thought it was great - to the bloke on the Nissan GTR who seemed to be blissfully unaware that there was a bloke on a Langster in front of and then potentially underneath him.

    Cock.

Good to catch up with MrO once again well as photoben et al.

We went to the Black Friar at the North Side of the bridge for some ale and chips then we rode home like silly buggers - very fun.
