Nice green Bianchi, excellent condition, around 1985? was about 500 Euros. Other bikes, a bit special were 1,100 Euros plus. But prices were open to negotiation, I believe, as I heard a trader say ''We are not in the shop...'. better bargains to be had on this forum, probably!

I also saw some OK bikes for 300-350. Didn't look like you could just hop on and do the 205 on them though.
What are you looking for Tika? Maybe I have, or could find, something solid for a reasonable price

This was perhaps the most magical cycling event iv'e ever done, also the toughest, mainly due to the heat and wrong gear selection on my part.
I managed to pick up a 39 116 bcd at the not too expensive jumble , but i will look for a 36 for next year.
Six cyclist went and all with wives and gf's and had a faulous time,we did the 135km and only one punture between us, now i've seen some of the pics i recognise the faces and shirts of other lfgss.
my mate took some video on aflip.

i remember.. did you find it hard work...the sun did for me.I puked 20km to go, could have been the sun, could have been the 2 raw eggs that italian made me eat at the 2nd resto

Yes, it was hard. I managed to ride all the route, my companion walked some of the tougher climbs. I resisted the eggs (and the chianti) en route. Completely done by the end, glad I decided against the 205km.

A selection from the first 2 rolls of film that I've managed to develop and scan (I used 9 rolls altogether over the 2 weeks I was in Tuscany including 3 during the ride)

Great pics, windy. So, how did you find your cyclocross tyres? I had a blast going downhill with my 35 front. I hardly used my brakes whilst my friends were going down with their 23/25 like little grandmothers.

Hi all,
Great reading all the accounts and seeing the fantastic pictures, hard to believe it's over two weeks ago already. Nice meeting (and drinking with!) some of you (including but not limited to) Dead_bob, Mr Spintoofast and Snapper 65.
As this dimwit who wanted to do the 135k route ignored the instructions and everyone's advice about an early start and subsequently missed the 8am deadline (when I was still attending to the breakfast buffet at the hotel!) I was pleased to see Tika's quote about the amount of climbing on the 75k being as much as the 135k. Despite only doing the 75k it was still a great day and it was quite hard work in that heat.
Hopefully see you all there again next year for more sunshine and Chianti!

+1 for great photos
I was one of the guys descending on 23s very gingerly like a ' little grandmother'...great description. Would certainly fit the widest tyres my frame will allow, if I get the chance to ride another year.A superb event. -

By the way, to keep those retro pedals, toe-clips and wheels turning, I plan to organise a Sunday retro Surrey Hills ride soon. Watch this space for details

great, i'm oxted based, so keen to know when this may happen. Can recommend following beasts if necessary - Succombs Hill (nr. Woldingham) 25%, Chalkpit Lane 20-25% (oxted/woldingham), Pitchfont Lane, offroad but hard packed gravel/dirt 30-35% in parts (Titsey), Yorks Hill amd Toys Hill 15-20%, (nr.Westerham)
