Last year iirc it was a 5pm meet then something like a 6pm start. You need lights as it will be dark by the time we start. Some people did a fancy dress as it was on the Halloween weekend. Me being me I ignored that and went for standard riding gear. There's a decent variation of riders so even if some riders sprint off there will always be someone there. What I do want to stress though is that despite it being a race there is no need to blindly ignore traffic lights/piss off drivers/get run over. Also watch the wheels in front, if you're not too confident or have no experience of riding in a group leave a little gap to the rider in front. A few guys almost came off because of touching wheels and one guy did. I don't want to be taken out by noobs/kamikazee nutters.
