Right. I think they'd need to be a 26mm grip, as the stem I'm using is a 3ttt, and I think that's a 26mm?

It's the length between the stem clamp point and the hoods/drops that is the issue for me, it's a tiny bit of a reach. Here's a picture of the bit i mean...
And here's a photoshopped version of the same shot but shortened a bit to something that I'm after.

I've got a 28 lb hammer- that'll fixit........
For what its my thoughts are use what you've got in the pic as I can't see anything shorter particularly being on.
Procedure is-
Tilt the bars back to the bottoms being horizonal
Undo the tape and loosen the STI units and shift them further up the bars al a "six gun" style.
Ensure you can operate the brake levers with two fingers- its all you need.
Ensure the STI units are straight and level with each other.
Ensure you can comfortably reach the STI units and brakes while sitting in the saddle- lean against a wall/door etc to check that out
Re-tape.
Ride your bike
Why so?? Swinging the bars round to the angle you have is increasing the distance you so dearly want to shorten, bringing back to the bottoms being horizontal minimises the length you're focussing on to shorten.
I'll stfu now........... :-)

The bars you are after are being sold for about £18 in Tokyo Fixed.

Thanks el diablo, I'll give that a go.
Sadly photoben I'm one of the guys from the Manchester arm of lfgss.
I'll look into them though.
Thanks fellas. It's not going to feck up my gears/brakes is it?
I mean by moving the levers I'll surely shorten/lengthen the cables? -

I've re-jigged them.
I'll give it a ride tomorrow and we'll see.
Thanks. -

Could you not sacrifice having a slightly shorter reach to the tops for bringing the drop position to the correct distance? Then all you'd need to do is get a shorter stem. For example there's 50mm NOS ITM stems here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BANKRUPT-1-RACING-BIKE-HANDLEBAR-STEM-REACH-50mm-ALLOY-/380363411752?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item588f6d1128
Just a thought? -

Rides fine now.
Thanks though.
I'm after some short reach ergo drop bars. In silver. I'm unsure of diameter at the clamp, so I'll measure that and post up later.
Not too wide though either.
