  • I will be spectating on saturday because I wish to keep legs happy for sunday, and if I ride I know I'll just get carried away. still up for post-track breakfast though, obviously.

Bring your bike, you know you will just be frustrated sitting in the stands. I intend to take it easy, but wouldn't mind turning some pedals*.

*gives me another excuse for Sunday

  • I will come and sit in the stands and heckle you all, whilst trying to dig up from the depths of my mind the distant memory that is track cycling....

I stripped the tarck machine down last night... gonna give it a new go faster paint job for next season....

  • Last week the nodder session started early, it seems, as I turned up at one but told tgere was only 1/2 hour left.

Where do I look to check for time changes like this? I'm always cutting it fine to get back to the track in time...

  • Ah ignore me... just seen JC's calender link up there^

  • Jet lag hs defeated my best intentions

  • baby up all night

    My mileage may vary

  • Three of us heading over this Saturday for the novice induction. Very excited, to the point of dreaming about it last night! Never been on a track before, so should be interesting. Plan to wear forum jersey in the hope of meeting fellow forumites.

Quick question - are there facilities for stowing road bike and bag?

  • We usually leave all our stuff in the center of the track. I've not had any issues, but owners risk etc.

  • That's all we needed to know jaygee - thanks for the quick response.

  • Tomorrow, anyone?

  • Yup....for the novice session.

  • Ditto, will be on white condor, say hello.

  • I'll be there. inters. empty legs, look of defeat. say hi.

Think I saw you at the HH junction on your way back from inters. White Leader?

Had an abortive novice session. All the big bikes were already out when I turned up, and the one I ended up with had a stripped saddle bolt, so couldn't move seat height. Finally got going but the discipline was not great, gave up after about 15 mins.

Will try the inters next time I think, and probably bring my own.

Also briefly chatted to someone briefly in the middle who seemed to have two forum t-shirts, just before end of the sesh. Who you?

  • Cracking intermediate session today, even if it was a little nippy.

    More motor-pacing action please!

  • where the dernys there today?

  • Still feeling the strain from Thursday rollapaluza rollers and was spinning like crazy on my 49x16 aerospokes, plus cleats wouldn't clip on! Gave up and sulked on the bench instead! Lol

was that you on the fuji? know the spinning feeling - was on 48x18 like the idiot i am. lesson learnt.

  • Yep that was me! not my best moment on the track, but you live and learn!

  • That was really good fun. Tiring though - asleep on the sofa by 8pm last night! Spoke to some really nice folk and impressed by the dedication of the coaches / volunteers. Will be back for more....

  • Yep a shame about lack of discipline during novice session on saturday, causing coaches to kinda give up on the group after a while, could have been so much better!
Still was glad i was able to sprint through the last 4 or 5 laps, so not so bad overall!

I will definitely go to the intermediate session this coming saturday (See you there Fabio, i've got my new T46 at the front all set!)

They had a bike out on the track for points race practise - winding the pace up to do groups of three-quarter to full lap sprints. Good fun but hard work. My thighs were feeling it more than usual the next day.

David, bear in mind that the recommended gearing at HH is 48TT in front and 15TT on the back, not 46.

  • • Gearing should be between 82 and 88 gear inches for novice riders. (48 x 15 (86″) is ideal for adult riders) a slightly higher ratio around 88-90 gear inches is preferred for racing.
