that advice is poor dammit; contact schwalbe and see if you can get compo/set of new tyres

I had a cheapo pair when I first moved to Norway. After losing some studs, they became unpredictable. I throw them away, and invested in a £100 pair. This is after I got bored of spending lots of £s on replacing crash damaged parts, to save a little on tyres. Conditions up here are more extreme of course.
My boss has commuted on those exact tyres for two winters, and they look near new. After bedding mine in (conti's made in finland. Nokion/Soumi?), I've thrown them around trails (containing rocky sections) during periods of thaw, without ill effect.
